Blue Moon Photos and Artwork
Blue Moon was created in about 1997 as a result of a confluence of events involving Paul's brother Bruce, a community picnic, solar flares, the "jaws of life", and a helicopter.
Blue Moon has since played at a variety of venues including cafes, bars, festivals, picnics, weddings, banquets, and other events. Their music is a refreshing and uplifting mixture of country, blues, bluegrass, folk, traditional and rock. Their influences include all the usual legends (Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, Stanley Brothers, Delmore Brothers, Chuck Berry, Blind Willie McTell, Johnny Cash, Robert Johnson, Willie Nelson) plus a heavy dose of Bob Dylan, with some Lucinda Williams and Steve Earle thrown in.
The band is made up of Sandy Pluta, who plays dobro, mandolin, and guitar; Paul Pluta, who plays bass and guitar; and Matthew Gordon, who plays guitar, mandolin, and harmonica. All three sing vocals and harmonies, creating an exciting blend of acoustic roots music.
